Dear Friend,
How would you like to live in an active adult community integrated with Saint Francis University in the picturesque Allegheny Mountains of central Pennsylvania? Imagine the healthy and fulfilling lifestyle you could enjoy--combining a wealth of cultural, educational, recreational and volunteer opportunities.
Sound intriguing? Let me share a little more about our plans and tell you how you can help bring the vision to reality.
Picture yourself owning an attractive residence near
our nine-hole Donald Ross designed golf course in Loretto, Pa. Altoona/Blair
County Airport and Johnstown Airport are nearby. Pittsburgh is 80 miles
to the west. Washington, DC is 185 miles southeast. You'll be near some
of the best fishing, hiking and bicycling in the United States. [For information
on area attractions visit http://www.francis.edu/Alleghenies.htm.]
But most importantly you'll have access to Saint Francis University's
programs and facilities (visit www.francis.edu). If you wish, attend
classes with our younger students, or those organized specifically for
residents. You create your own schedule! Use our fitness center, pool,
and library.
We'll help you find productive volunteer opportunities both on and off
campus. Depending on your interests and background, you could become
a part-time lecturer, advise student clubs and organizations, or act
as tutor, mentor, or career advisor to our younger students. And we hope
you will join in the fun of attending our many music, theater and sports
events throughout the year.
A Dean of Programs will help facilitate interaction among the residents, the University and the surrounding community. Attractive common areas will encourage socializing with your neighbors.
Saint Francis University is collaborating with Campus Continuum LLC, which is forming a network of similar campus-based residences for life-long learners across the country, to conduct a feasibility study and, assuming sufficient interest, to bring this unique community to fruition.
I invite you to learn more about the community, tell us whether you'd be interested in joining us, and let us know what types of physical and service amenities you'd prefer. Simply complete the brief (about 10 minutes) online survey. By responding to our survey you'll be helping to shape our project to reflect your interests and you will receive updates on our plans. Your name will not be shared with other organizations.
"Campus Continuum at Saint Francis University" will be open to the University's alumni as well as other active, mature adults who value the lifestyle we offer. So, please encourage friends who might be interested to also respond to our survey. Thank you.
Very truly yours,
Fr. Gabriel Zeis
President
